Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Remember those little Valentine’s Day cards we used to get when in grade school from all of our friends?  Remember those little boxes of candy hearts with little sayings on them?  I used to love those little heart candies!  I remember always getting a bunch that said “Be Mine.”  This colorway is inspired by those little boxes of candy. It is a quick kit to celebrate Valentine’s Day!

What a nice little sweet treat to use to make a pair of socks, a small shawl or a cowl for a loved one or for yourself to combat the February blues. (What better way to combat the blues than with reds and pinks?) A New Base – Chickadee!

Chickadee is a new yarn base that I am now dyeing and will be available only in Fingering and DK, in limited quantities.  Chickadee is a superwash blend of 80% SW Merino and 20% Nylon, 4 ply, 100g. The fingering weight clocks in at 447 yards.  This yarn has a very soft hand, yet has great stitch definition.  The added bit of nylon, although soft, combats the pilling you sometimes see with very soft yarns.

The wool used in this base is sourced and milled entirely in the U.S.  The nylon used in this blend has the feel of cashmere.  Because this is dyed ready-to-ship, once the skeins have sold out, they are gone.  I will be dyeing on this base periodically over the course of the next year, but will be dyeing different, unique colors concocted just for this base.

The Be Mine colorway is available in Fingering weight.  Whether you purchase 1 skein or multiple skeins, your package will contain not only the yarn you purchase but additional surprise notions. Just my way of saying, Happy Valentine’s Day!
