DFW Fiberfest 2020 Exclusive

Hello Fiber Friends,

Chicken Coop Dyeworks has been fairly silent since the Covid-19 pandemic hit our shores.  Like many of you, we have had to adjust to the new normal, working remotely and hunkering down in our homes to help stop the spread of this awful virus.  Getting set up to work from home and attending to pressing deadlines from that 9-5 have made it nearly impossible for me to attend to Chicken Coop business (other than making sure the chickens and sheep got fed, that is).  We have now gotten into a routine that reflects the new normal and I am now able to devote time to my favorite pastime – Chicken Coop Dyeworks!  I know many of you rely on knitting and crocheting to help alleviate any anxiety you may be feeling in these trying times.  We are here to help you do that.

First of all, I want you to know that we have your health in our hearts.  I live on a bit of acreage outside of Dallas on the edge of the county.  We have been sheltering in place here for 2 weeks.  We don’t come in contact with a lot of people out here unless we make the effort to go see folks or they make the effort to come see us.  Everyone around here has been staying in so we haven’t had visitors.  As to yarn shipments,  I have arranged pick up of orders via the U.S. Postal Service at my front door.  I wipe down the outside of the mailers with antiseptic wipes and spray the interior with Lysol.  I wrap yarn in tissue paper (porous) and include a lavender sachet (because it smells good).  I place the yarn in a small plastic bag that has also been sprayed, to stick in the mailer.  These small plastic bags were bought in bulk over a year ago and are packaged in groups of 50 (I have several thousand).  The bags are only opened to insert yarn.  I also regularly use gloves in dyeing and have been using them to pack yarn as well.  Note: these gloves are good for food handling, not for surgical use.

Over the coming week, I will be uploading more inventory and offering even more sales as we head into what would have been Fiber Fest Weekend.  Here is a preview of the current sales:

Chicken Feet:  I still have some Chicken Feet in stock.  This is a base that is going on hiatus this year.  All Chicken Feet that is left is going on sale for a flat $16.00.

Use the code DFWFF2020 for a 10% discount on all items except Chicken Feet.  This discount code is good for now through April 5, 2020.  Additionally, this discount applies to:

Seeding Fields Sweater Kit: 10% off to you for this kit using the code DFWFF2020 AND 10% of Sales of this kit will be donated to DFW Fiber Fest, a 501(c)3 organization

The Seeding Fields pattern is complete!!!  The kit for Seeding Fields was set to debut at DFW Fiber Fest as the Fiber Fest Special.  Since the Fiber Fest Board, rightly, had to cancel the Fiber Festival – at their own expense – I am going to offer the Seeding Fields kit as a DFW Fiber Fest Exclusive.  This is a preorder.  You will get 10% off the price of the kit from now through April 5, 2020, using the code DFWFF2020.  The pattern for this Sweater is not available on Ravelry as it was to be a DFW FF Exclusive.  It will only be available in the Kit.  You will receive a code and link to download a PDF of the pattern to your own computer.  I ask that you do not share this pattern as it is copyrighted and several people were involved in the creation of this pattern and deserve to receive payment for any sales.  Additionally, 10% of all sales will be donated to the DFW Fiber Fest to help insure that we have a fiber fest in the DFW area in 2021.  When purchasing the kit, please use the code DFWFF2020.

The kit includes the pattern, the yarn in the colorway of your choice and a medium sized project bag.  This kit is a preorder.  You will choose the size you are knitting, which determines the number of hanks of yarn needed and you will choose the colorway you would like.  The price of the kit for each size is part of the listing .  Once your order is placed, you will receive it in approximately 3 weeks.

Keep in mind that there are some additional design options to this pattern.  For instance, If you want the sweater to be longer, or have a dropped hem or bell sleeves, you may need an additional hank of yarn other than that in the kit.  You may add a hank of Hen yarn in the colorway that you chose to your cart.  The discount code applies to all items in the cart.
